JROTC
⚓ South Carolina NJROTC: Building Citizens of Character
The Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) program in South Carolina's high schools is a premier citizenship and leadership development course sponsored by the U.S. Navy. It is not a recruiting tool, but a focused academic curriculum designed to motivate young people to become better, more responsible citizens.
Our Mission and Core Curriculum
The core mission of every NJROTC unit in South Carolina is to instill in students the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.
Classes are taught by highly qualified instructors—retired Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard officers and enlisted personnel—who bring decades of real-world leadership experience into the classroom.
Key Curriculum Topics:
● Leadership Development: Practical exercises, command positions, effective communication, and decision-making.
● Maritime Heritage: An exploration of naval history, seamanship, navigation, and meteorology.
● Wellness and Fitness: Physical training, first aid, and promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
● Citizenship: Understanding American history, civic rights, and personal obligations as an American citizen.
