The Healthcare Science Program at Strom Thurmond Career and Technology Center (STCTC) gives students the skills, certifications, and real-world experience to begin a rewarding journey in healthcare.

Our program offers four exciting courses that build on each other:

• Health Science 1 – Explore the foundations of healthcare, anatomy, and medical terminology.
   

• Health Science 2 – Dive deeper into patient care, infection control, and vital healthcare skills.
   

• • Students will also take Medical Terminology concurrently with Health Science 2 to strengthen their medical language and prepare for clinical experiences.
     

• Health Science Clinical Study – Apply your knowledge in real clinical settings and work alongside healthcare professionals.
   

• Medical Billing and Coding – Learn the language of healthcare documentation, coding, insurance, and electronic health records.
   

Students in the program have the opportunity to earn national certifications that set them apart after graduation:

• Patient Care Technician (PCT)
   

• Phlebotomy Technician
   

• Electrocardiography (EKG) Technician
   

• Medical Billing and Coding Specialist
   

From hands-on labs to hospital rotations, STCTC Health Science students don’t just learn about healthcare—they experience it. Graduates leave prepared for college programs in nursing, medical assisting, and allied health fields, or to go straight into entry-level healthcare careers.
