STCTC DECA Region Competition

On November 28th, eighteen STCTC (Strom Thurmond Career and Technology Center) DECA members competed in SC DECA’s Region Competition at Lexington Career and Technology Center in Lexington, SC under the guidance of their advisor, Mrs. Lisa Skinner, and chaperone, Steven Skinner. The students competed in Individual Series events where they acted in a role play and were judged based on their deliverance. The students also took a hundred question multiple choice computerized test in their category that was administered by Mrs. Connie Shannon (STCTC Career Guidance Counselor).

Eleven students placed in their category including: Matthew Bedenbaugh and Tucker Bledsoe in the top ten in Business Finance Series, Tatelyn Benton in the top ten in Human Resources Management, Neely Busbee in the top ten in Food Marketing Series, Ethan Padgett in the top ten in Retail Merchandising Series, Hannah Presley in the top ten in Quick Serve Restaurant Management Series, Brandie Field placed second in Sports Entertainment Marketing, Anna-Kate Hightower placed in the top ten of Accounting Applications Series, Beth Verdery placed first and Emma Sexton placed second in Accounting as well, and Garrett Elkins placed second in Business Services Marketing Series. The students then celebrated with dinner at Wiz’s in Batesburg-Leesville on their way home from Lexington.
