On Monday, November 7, 2016, The Strom Thurmond Career and Technology Center (STCTC) Cosmetology senior class had a wonderful and very inspiring time at NHC Nursing Home in North Augusta. The students rendered their services and special talents on the residents’ nails. “Each student created a special nail art on their client and the residents loved them. Some residents even wanted to pay the Cosmetology students for their creativity but that was not necessary.

The joy on their faces was priceless,” expressed Mrs. Jackie Kennion, Cosmetology teacher. RaShonda Bryant, cosmetology student noted that the students look forward every year to this special trip because they feel like they are making a difference. “We feel like we have the freedom to be creative while really brighten someone’s day,” said Miss Bryant.  Initiative and self-direction are some of ECSD’s (Edgefield County School District) characteristics of a “World Class Citizen.” ECSD is focused on ensuring its graduates are prepared for success by focusing on the skills needed by business and industry.
